#NailArtbyMaarte: Love Nail Swirl - Hearts Series 4

Let's have the last nail art for this series special. This is my first attempt and I can say it's a success!!!

Nail Swirl a.k.a. Water Marble nail art can be easily done by beginners. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube that you can watch.

As I was searching online for the best tutorial over the net, I came across with Caronia Nail Swirl Madness. The contest was held way back in 2012. If only I was into nail at that time, maybe I have joined in the contest.

So what do we need to achieve the swirl/marble effect? We need to prepare the ff.:

- Small bowl with water. The smaller the bowl the better so that the nail polish will not spread too much. Ice cream cups will do
- Stick or toothpick. You will use this to swirl the polish
- Petroleum Jelly. Apply this around your nails so that you can easily wipe off the nail polish on your fingers. You can also use scotch tape so that the polish will not stick on your skin. But for me, petroleum jelly is better
- Acetone and cotton buds. Actually, you need a bottle of Acetone to clean off the excess polish. This nail art is messy to do but produces incredible results

In choosing the right nail polish, you have to consider the consistency of the liquid. It's better to use a new one as the
nail polish is not that sticky. I have used Caronia Nail Polish and also remember do this nail art in room temperature to prevent the polish from hardening quickly.

Prep your nails by cleaning and applying white nail polish. This will make the colors brighter.

So based from Caronia, there will only be 4 easy steps:

  1. Pick - at least 3 Caronia colors (regular): Simply Red, White Satin and Baby Pink (Love colours, of course!)
  2. Drop - each color in water. Do this alternately to create a bulls eye. Three drops of each color will do
  3. Swirl - the polish using a stick. Start swirling at the center of the bulls eye. When you have achieved the desired design...
  4. Dip - your nails. Dip your nails one at a time. So you need to create a new bulls eye for each of your nails

Don't forget to apply a good top to protect your nail art. For my toenails, I have just applied a regular red nail polish with no design as I am tired and sleepy after I did my fingernails =).

I know it's hard but it's worth it. Right?
