#Talkatrip: Boracay 2013 - Day 1

OFF PEAK SEASON - September 17, 2013

The flight has been booked since February. We have already been here last September 2011, however, everyone will agree that we couldn't just get enough of this Island. Last time, we are with our family. This year we have decided to celebrate our togetherness for 11 years.

Day 1

Our day started with a 6AM flight from NAIA Terminal 3 to Caticlan. The plane tickets were on Piso-Sale (Cebu Pacific) which only cost Php1,300++. Thank God, there was no more terminal fee.

From Boracay Airport, we rode a tricycle to Tabon Port (Jetty Port was closed during bad weather) which cost Php130 each. From Tabon Port, you need to pay Environmental fee and Terminal fee of Php175 each. Locals don't need to pay but the boat ride costs Php25. Multicabs and tricycles were already waiting once you have reached the island. Tricycle ride to the Beach costs Php100-150, so negotiate wisely.

We will be staying at Jejsellends Guesthouse so we asked the driver to drop us off at the D'Mall. The room was nice with a 1 queen and 1 single sized beds, hot and cold shower and Cable TV. We opted to stay here instead of hotels to enjoy Boracay on a budget and we were also out most of the time. The room costs Php1,200 per night. It is important that you make sure the place you choose is safe.

Activities:

There are so many things to do in Boracay. There are so many "Kuya" who will approach you regarding the activities. Just negotiate wisely and always prioritize your safety.
  • Island Hopping: Php1,000 (for 4 persons). We went to Puka Beach, however, we did not proceed to Crystal Cove as we already went there last time. You need to add Php20 for the snorkeling gears.

  • Para sailing: Php850 per person. Some companies are expensive because of the equipment used.

  • Lunch: Restaurant near Puka Beach (forgot the name but the price of their meals are all Php220).
  • Dinner: Free Buffet at Astoria Boracay. You just have to attend the 90-minute presentation regarding the membership after the dinner. The menu is good!
